Experimental
Sounds
Experimental Sounds invites audiences into a bold, genre-blurring reimagination of what a concert can be. In this new sonic landscape, tradition meets technology; experimental musicians working with code, live electronics and unconventional techniques share the stage with live visual artists and makers, creating a space for those who don't quite fit the mould.
Experimental Sounds debuted in March 2026, themed around classical music at Mixed Zoning, pairing musicians with live painters and projection art for a night where sound and image responded to each other in real time. The second edition will focus on pushing the boundaries of music and art experimentation on 29 November 2026 at Pride of Our Footscray. It will also include a mini artist market spotlighting local makers.
Every edition pushes further into what a cross-artform, multi-sensory art festival can be, and creates legitimacy for experimental art in Australia.
